ONE YEAR LATER

One year ago…

I was working out in my garage in Beaumont Texas. It was raining hard and I had to move my weights from the patio.

One year ago…

I was getting a little nervous as I was getting ready for worship. Hurricane Harvey had already hit and  we were expecting some rain. I drove to the building early in the morning to check out the streets.

One year ago…

When I got to the Dowlen Road church building there were a few members there. Around 9:15 or 9:20, the skies really opened up. The ran came done. A LOT OF RAIN. We began to act fast. We cancelled Bible classes and had a short service.

One year ago…

When I was driving home from the building I knew this wasn’t going to be good. The streets were flooding. Thankfully, I made it home. I also knew there wasn’t going to be much of a birthday party. It was time to get out of town.

One year ago…

My family and I drove to Lufkin Texas. We thought we would be there for a day or so. We ended up being there for a week. You know the rest of the story. We got record rain in the Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Mauriceville, Vidor area. It certainly would change lives forever.

One year ago…

The process of tearing down homes and rebuilding would soon begin. It would be a long process. Many are now back in their homes praise God. But the memories still remain. The fears. The feeling of losing all of their physical possessions still remains. Sadly, there were some who lost loved ones.

One year ago…

It’s amazing what can happen in a year. After the rains came, it felt like it would be impossible to build. But there were strong men, women, and children in Beaumont. They started and have finished the job. It felt impossible, but with God all things are possible. God’s people all around the U.S.A and world stepped up big time. You could see God comforting His people through His people, 2 Corinthians 1:1-7. You could see God’s hand upon His people. It was amazing. I have goose bumps simply thinking about it. GOD IS GOOD…ALL THE TIME.

One year ago…

I wrote a letter to myself. I wanted to capture what was going on and how I would hopefully be changed forever. I wrote a blog about that. I may post that again. As I look back over the last year, I’m thankful that I see good changes. I still have a long way to go, but I’m thankful change is evident.

One year ago…

I was preaching in Beaumont Texas. Now I’m preaching in Lewisville Texas. You never know what will happen in life. God is good. The move has been great.

One year later…

I have two more books complete. Two down and three to go and then I will rest from the books for a while.

One year later…

The fitness transformation I’ve been on continues. I’m in my 32 inch jeans. I’m still in my brown suit. There’s still room for me grow. It never ends. Just gotta keep going.

What will this year hold? Only the Lord knows. I’m so thankful I’m a Christian. I’m so thankful I know the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I’m thankful I have fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. I’m thankful I’m in Christ.

I will never forget Hurricane Harvey. It changed so many people around me. It changed me. Life has a way of doing that.

Father In Heaven,

Thank you Father for another year of life. Thank you Creator for your love, mercy, grace, long-suffering, and your goodness. I don’t deserve anything you give me. I’m blessed beyond measure. You are so good to me. Everything I have is because of you. Thank you for the gift of life. Thank you Father for your kindness. Thank you for another year of life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
